Behind the Door – The story of an Indonesian worker

Behind the door, there is an Indonesian woman who works abroad in Malaysia for 15 years. Her name is Rani, 37 years old.

Rani is currently works as a cleaner in a lubricant manufacturer factory which placed in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur. The reason why she left her homeland and family is to seek for a secured life with the stable job opportunity.

Pix 2: This is Rani’s working place where she having daily routines like sweeping and mopping the floor.

Pix 4: Rani is cleaning up the meeting room before the room is being used.


Rani indicated that she earns RM550 every month and half of the salary will send to her family. Since her employer provides her free lodging room, the burden of her living expenses can be reduced.

Pix 5: Cooking Indonesian native food is the enjoyable time for Rani as it can alleviate her homesick.

Pix 6: This is her pet cat, one of the intimate buddies in this foreign country.

Rani hopes that she can earn as much as money to feed and improve the life of her family. She also looks forward the day she can gather with her family in Indonesia.
